Mill Creek Fire Company celebrated 87 years of serving their community by hosting an appreciation picnic their volunteers and staff on Saturday August 23, 2014. Over 160 attended the event which included food and activities.
Special Highlights:
Mill Creek Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary presented a check for $75,000 for all their hard work in raising funds by conducting bingo games, hall rentals, craft shows, etc. during the past 12 months.
The “Volunteer of the Year Award for 2013” was presented to Joseph Stewart, Sr. Joe serves as our deputy chief, chair of the building and grounds committee, board of director, and was the chair of the new facility committee. For going above and beyond the call of duty, spending countless hours on our new building and making sure our existing facilities stay in good shape and for proudly serving his community we honor Joe with this prestigious award.
The “Board of Directors Award” was presented to three individuals for their lead roles in the construction of our new fire station. The 15 month project took a tremendous amount of time and energy working with the architects, construction company, monitoring daily work, attending weekly meetings, etc. For their untiring efforts this award was presented to Joe Stewart, Sr, RT (Whitey) Leitch and Jon Stewart.
