The Mill Creek Fire Company has taken delivery of a 2016 Pierce quint aerial ladder truck, which was manufactured at the Pierce facilities located in Appleton, Wisconsin. The apparatus was sold by Atlantic Emergency Solutions.
The truck is a Pierce Arrow XT Quint 100 ft. Heavy Duty Aerial Ladder with an aluminum cab and body. The vehicle’s dimensions include a wheelbase of 243”, a length of 42 ft. 2” and an overall height of 12 ft. 4”. The Arrow XT chassis has a Meritor tandem rear axle assembly with combined GAWR of 60,000 lbs. and a Meritor front axle with 21,500 lbs. GAWR, yielding a GVWR of 81,500 lbs. The powertrain consists of a Detroit Diesel DD13 500 HP engine coupled to an Allison 4000P EVS 6-speed transmission. The four outrigger stabilizers have a horizontal spread of 12 ft. and an 18” ground penetration. The four-section aluminum aerial ladder has a 750 lb. all-aspect tip load capacity.
The midship-mounted centrifugal pump is a Hale QMAX 2000 gpm single-stage coupled to a Pierce pressure governor electronic control module. The 1500 gpm aerial waterway is outfitted with an Akron 3578 StreamMaster electric monitor and an Akron 5178 Akromatic electric master stream nozzle. The water tank is a UPF 500 gallon poly tank. A Harrison MCR Stealth 10kW hydraulic generator is connected with two Hannay 200 ft. electric cord reels.
The apparatus carries 180 ft. of portable ground ladders, rope rescue equipment, Stokes rescue basket, circular rescue saws, ventilation chain saw, reciprocating sawzall, forcible entry tools and multiple hooks. The quint is equipped with 1000 ft. of 4” LDH, 300 ft. of 3” hose, three preconnect crosslays, front bumper trash line and an Akron 3443 Mercury 500 gpm portable monitor. Cab seating capacity is six.
