Townhome Fire

Mill Creek Fire Company was dispatched at 1:15 PM on December 1, 2014 to a car into a home on Lower Valley Lane in the Green Valley community.   Original dispatch included assistance from Aetna Hose, Hook and Ladder and Christiana Fire Companies.  While firefighters were responding to the alarm additional reports were received indicating a large column of black smoke can been seen several miles away from the area of the alarm.  The alarm was upgraded to include assistance from Cranston Heights, Belvedere, Elsmere, Minquas, Five Points and Hockessin Fire Companies.   First arriving firefighters found two structures engulf in fire with a ruptured gas line.  The intensive fire destroyed two homes and caused smoke and some fire damage to adjoining structures. Over 75 Firefighters responded.  The scene was cleared at 5:00 PM.    One person was taken to the hospital and a small dog rescued and revived from the fire.   The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
