House Fire

Thursday, July 16, 2015

On August 3rd, 2014 at 8:00 AM Mill Creek Fire Company was dispatched to a house fire in the 1800 block of Belfield Avenue in the community of Windemere, Stanton.   Prior to the arrival of fire apparatus, New Castle County Police arrived on the scene first and reported smoke showing to their dispatch.   The alarm was then upgraded.    Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke throughout the house.  The fire was quickly extinguished with heavy fire damage to the basement area.  An alert neighbor exited her home from across the street when she saw smoke pouring from the home.  She quickly ran across the street and pounded on the her neighbor's door to alert them of the fire and called 911.   The occupants of the home were able to safely escape the burning home.  The fire was declared under control in 20 minutes.  Approximately 25 firefighters responded to assist with the alarm.  No one was injured and the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.   Mill Creek Fire Company was assisted by Belevdere, Minquas and Cranston Heights Fire Companies.
