In the early morning hours of Sunday January 12th, the Mill Creek Fire Company along with New Castle County Paramedics was dispatched to 3920 Kirkwood Highway for a reported Motor Vehicle Collision (MVC) with Rollover. Units Ambulance A-21, Rescue-Pumper 21-6, Support vehicle 2-0, Medic 7-C and MCFC Fire Police made the response. Units arrived on scene to find a single vehicle resting on the sidewalk with severe damage. One occupant was trapped inside the vehicle and had their foot stuck between the shifter and dash board. Crew from 21-6 freed the occupant’s foot and removed the driver side door within 5 minutes using the Jaws of Life and O - Cutters. Crew then assisted EMS crew with packaging and loading of the occupant to be transported to an area hospital for evaluation. Crews from 21-6 and 2-0 preformed minor clean up and situation was placed under control. Accident remains under investigation by DSP.
