Pike Creek Valley - At 4:30 AM Mill Creek Fire Company was dispatched to a building fire at 5510 Limeric Circle in the Linden Green II Apartments. Within a few minutes of the original dispatch the New Castle County 911 Center started to receive multiple calls of a fire at this location.
New Castle County Police and a New Castle County paramedic were first on the scene to report a working fire on the second floor Firefighters from Mill Creek arrived on the scene and advanced a hose line into smoky building and were able to extinguish the fire in a bedroom. The fire totally destroyed the room. Fortunately the apartment tenant closed the bedroom door to help prevent the fire from spreading throughout the apartment and building. Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control quickly with minimal water damage to surrounding apartments.
Everyone in the building was evacuated safely and there were no reports of injuries. Mill Creek Fire Company was originally assisted by Hockessin Fire Company and Aetna Hose, Hook and Ladder. The extra alarm provided assistance from Cranston Heights, Elsmere, Belvedere and Minquas Fire Company. Firefighters cleared the scene around 6:00 AM. The Delaware State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
