The fire was escalated to a second alarm bringing additional firefighters to the scene. Approximately sixty firefighter’s battled the intense fire in 90 degree heat. The fire destroyed all three levels of the home and caused a partial collapse of the second floor in the rear of the home. Homes on both sides of the fire structure received fire, smoke and water damage.
There were no report of firefighter injuries. Mill Creek Fire Company was assisted at the scene by Cranston Heights, Hockessin, Elsmere, Aetna Hose, Hook and Ladder, Five Points, Minquas, Christiana, Belvedere Fire Wilmington Manor Companies. Multiple fire companies in New Castle County were called to cover surrounding fire stations during the alarm.
The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire. The displaced residents are being assisted by family and friends along with the American Red Cross.
