February 28, 2024 - Just before 10:30 PM, Mill Creek Fire Company as well as New Castle County Paramedics were dispatched for a reported motor vehicle crash (MVC) with a roll over and ejection. There were also reported wires across the roadway. The single vehicle crash was located in the 400 block of McKennans Church Road just south of Newport Gap Pike (Rt 41).
Units arrived on the scene and found one person had been ejected from the vehicle and another person trapped in the wreckage. Two utility poles were broken, and electrical wires were on the ground. Delmarva Power was notified for a priority 1 response. The trapped patient was extricated eight minutes after firefighters arrived on the scene. Two patients were transported to the Christiana Hospital by Mill Creek Fire Company ambulances.
Hockessin Fire Company was dispatched to assist at the scene. DELDOT and Fire Police provided traffic control. McKennans Church Road was shut down for an extended period of time as the scene was cleaned up and utility work completed. The New Castle County Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
