Residential Structure Fire

On March 14, 2019 at 8:38 AM the Mill Creek Fire Company was dispatched to a residential structure fire in the 3200 block of Mill Creek Road in the Pike Creek Valley area.   Callers were reporting the roof on fire in the rear of the 100+ year old structure.   First arriving apparatus encountered heavy fire conditions in the structure.   A second alarm was requested.
 

One firefighter issued a mayday call and was immediately rescued.   The firefighter was transported to the Christiana Hospital and later transferred to Crozier Hospital.    More than 50 firefighters battled the blaze until it was placed under control at 9:26 AM.   Firefighters remained on the scene until 1:00 PM putting out hotspots and assisting with the investigation.  The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.

 

Firefighters from Mill Creek, Aetna Hose, Hook & Ladder, Belvedere, Christiana, Cranston Heights, Elsmere, Five Points, Goodwill, Hockessin, Minquas, Talleyville, City of Wilmington, Wilmington Manor Fire Companies along with the New Castle County paramedics and St. Francis Rehab unit assisted with the fire.
