Resident escapes heavily involved trailer fire

Sunday, January 14, 2018

On Saturday evening January 13, 2018 at 19:38 hours the Mill Creek Fire Company was dispatched to a house trailer on fire in the Murray Manor community in the 900 block of 10th Avenue.   Along with the initial dispatch four additional fire companies responded from Belvedere, Cranston Heights, Elsmere and Minquas Fire Companies.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a heavily involved trailer fire.  Over 35 firefighters battled the blaze for 45 minutes before it was brought under control.   Firefighters endured freezing temperatures as 100’s of feet of fire hose circled the trailer.  The single occupant of the home was able to escape the fire.    Firefighters remained on the scene for just under three hours.   The home was a total loss.

Firefighters from Talleyville and Goodwill Fire Companies also responded to assist with relief and overhaul.   EMS support was provided by the NCC paramedics, Five Points and Wilmington Manor Fire Companies.

The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.   There were no report of injures to firefighters.
