Tractor Trailer Rollover Crash

June 12, 2017 - Mill Creek Fire Company was dispatched to a motor vehicle crash with rollover at hte intersection of Limestone Road and Main Street, Stanton.  As units arrived on the scene they found a a tractor-trailer carrying empty chicken cages had rolled over on its passenger side.  Witnesses rushed to the driver's aid and smashed the windshield so the driver could get out of the rig.   The crash caused one of the large fuel saddle tanks to leak diesel fuel resulting in the dispatch of DNREC emergency response team and Belvedere Fire Company's hazardous response unit.  An extensive clean up process was conducted to remove the spilled fuel and to off load the remaining fuel in the saddle tanks prior to uprighting the tractor and trailer.  DEDOT closed all streets leading to the scene as rescue workers cleaned up the spill.   Traffic was diverted for over three hours.  The Delaware State Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
